Ive been looking for hair replacement solutions for years. I had a hair transplant and then ended with a hair piece and now have had my first Scalp Micropigmentation session with Scott at Replique. Im mainly getting Scalp Micropigmentation to fill in my scar from the hair transplant, then am looking at getting the full scalp area done in a few months. But mainly I want to be able to have short hair and I can’t do that with the scar as it is now.
My hair transplant started really well, I was about 22 and went to a good surgeon. A lot of hair took and I still had a pretty reasonable amount of hair at that stage of my own to blend it in too. The frustrating part of it was the continual hair loss, I took hair loss drugs and all the treatments to try and slow down the rest of the loss of my hair. But it was just virtually inevitable. In the end it was a great natural look but, because you can’t get that full head of hair from the transplant it wasn’t efficient for me. Some people are happy with just a sparse amount where I wanted a full head of hair for my life, so eventually I moved to hair pieces and Scalp Micropigmentation as well.
Probably long term I regret having the transplant but for that initial five years it was a fantastic result that changed my life as well.
I think the first thing that really attracted me to come and work with Scott was to that he has been through a lot of similar problems himself so he could definitely relate. The second thing was he really shows a lot of customer care and he wants the people who he treats with whatever sort of treatment that you got through he wants for you to have a great result.
It is not just a number to him he wants you to walk out feeling amazing and I think that is really, really important because it is such an important thing for so many guys. His customer service and his attention to detail have been absolutely superb so I would recommend him to anyone.

My decision to undertake SMP was not something I did without a lot of prior research. There are multiple sites on the internet including videos that cover the procedure and the expected outcomes. In saying that, the majority of sites reflect US or European practitioners and certainly not Brisbane. I recommend you do your research before meeting anyone to ensure you know what questions you want answered. I selected 3 possible practitioners to meet and discuss options with.
I organized an initial consultation with Scott Hickman at Replique Brisbane in their Fortitude Valley office. This was a really professional environment, clean, well fitted out and easily accessible from the city. Scott was truly passionate about the service they provided and his knowledge of SMP was really comforting. We openly discussed the kind of results I wanted and at no time did I feel that he was pressuring me to proceed. I loved their philosophy of a client for life and the fact that I would be able to reach out in future for further treatments if needed. I left the SMP office that day feeling really comfortable with Scott and his approach to the procedure, most important to me was knowing that he was going to take this as seriously as I was and was truly focused on achieving the results we discussed.
I had 3 treatments for a complete and natural look that I am really happy with. Importantly, Scott was more than happy for my wife to accompany me during the procedures to provide needed support. He was really careful to ensure that the density of my SMP matched my existing hair, the blending of the SMP to your existing hair is really critical and it was clear that Scott took significant care to get this right. The all important hairline was discussed jointly before he commenced work on it and Scott made sure it was really natural and in line with my expectations. Pain wise during the treatments, it was around a 2-3 out of 10. Watching Netflix (in the surgery) whilst Scott is working on your scalp is weirdly relaxing and I found myself regularly trying to avoid falling asleep.
Scott provides really clear instructions on post treatment care and he does regular post check ups to ensure everything is going well as your scalp heals. Biggest thrill is saying goodbye to your naked scalp crown and then on day 5 when you can clipper your scalp and really get a sense of how SMP is going to look for you. Really loved the appearance of a hairline again and the result post my 3rd treatment is fantastic and really natural.
I would really recommend the treatment and Replique Clinic Brisbane; Scott Hickman as a practitioner of SMP is really careful to achieve a result that you can be assured will look natural and will meet, or in my case, exceed your expectations. The service pre, during and post procedures is exceptional and it is comforting to know that you can reach out to them in the future when needed.

I started wearing hair pieces years ago. Initially when I started there were only big sort of providers that tried to get you in full lock in contracts. There wasn’t that ability to get that real customer service and there wasn’t access to training and education on how to maintain and look after it. It was sort of like they wanted to make you locked into their way of doing things for life. The other thing that was really frustrating initially was probably the price in Australia. It was really expensive compared to over seas but I can see that has change as there has been more providers
I discovered Scalp Micropigmentation when I was youtubing different hair solutions and it just popped up and I just sort of started investigating more about it. I reckon there is hardly any maintenance I think it is a great solution I feel is one of the best solutions for people who have lost hair.
I liked being able to design my own hairline because you want to be looking in the mirror every day and feel comfortable with your own hairline which is the best part of this where you can just design your own hairline.
I was very nervous before my first Scalp Micropigmentation session because I have never had any tattoo arts done to any parts of my body before so this is something that is the first time ever that is the similar procedure. And also how prickly the needles are going to be and sort of how painfull the procedure will be that was my main concern and also any sort of infection that I might catch because of that.
Now I feel extremely confident and I feel there is hardly any pain, there is really next to nothing. Just obviously there is a little bit of redness that fades away which is great. So I feel extremely confident, painless and there is no maintenance.
